Seeking means: having a goal.

But finding means: being free, being open, having no goal.

From [Siddhartha](1922) written by Hermann Hesse(1877-1962)

Hanna Lee paints ‘the light in the darkness.’ It was a ray of light that led her out of the dark night. Just as a small candle can turn darkness into a dim darkness, a single ray of light gradually illuminated the surroundings. It revealed the breathing and warmth of beings that had always been by her side, but that she had passed by without paying attention. She could feel the warmth the moment their breath touched her skin. What she expresses is ‘the warmth of the night.’ These are dreamy moments where light and darkness embrace each other, different from the clarity of the midday sun.

Sungok Park believes that people all live with incomplete hearts and that, even if they appear as grown adults, there is always a boy or girl living inside each of them. The short-haired girl with big eyes who often appears in her works may represent an object of the compassion or serve as a symbol of innocence, embodying her emotions. In recent works, girls and animals such as cats and bees often appear together. Her work is completed with dense pencil work. Black is the color of no color, but at the same time, it is the color of all colors, and from the perspective of Taoist aesthetics, it signifies “Wu Wei(無爲)” or non-action. In Taoist philosophy, non-action was also considered a way to escape the suffering caused by artificial actions. She hopes to find peace of mind and emotional healing through repetitive pencil work, which is like a practice.
