Halo mainly draws using a pencil. Characters reminiscent of clouds and smoke, faces, flowers, objects, and landscapes are connected to each other with soft lines. The combination of delicate pencil drawings and simple characters is exquisite and natural.
He tries to face the moment when his attention is taken by small things that can be easily overlooked in everyday life and also when he encounters a trivial but impressive incident. He imagines that things that have passed, things that have been lost, things that are no longer visible are out there somewhere, and he remembers them in a very personal and small way.
Ksusha Lastochka and Maxim Trulov are a duo of artists who work inseparably. Prior their collaboration, Ksusha studied animation in St. Petersburg, while Maxim was busy with public art on the streets of Nizhny Novgorod. They currently live and work in Istanbul, Turkey. Ksusha and Maxim besides their separate career are also known as artists of the “Your Mum’s Knight” art collective. They have exhibited extensively at festivals and exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
Ksusha and Maxim’s style bases on two principles a black-and-white color scheme and detailed graphics. The combination of Ksusha’s background in animation and Maxim’s large-scale vision they created their own universe. The universe features over 50 characters that are a part of different narratives. From the first look their style may seem playful but the story unveils the deeper issues about mental health and traumatic experiences.
