Fortune Hunter deals with everyday objects in a unique way. His objects are interesting, mysterious, and sometimes used in unexpected contexts to create new realities. Or one can think of it as a visual representation of a unique, abstract setting of dreams, memories, and thoughts. They are intrinsically linked to the subconscious. His new body of work explores human objects or elements from our pop culture that are treasured because of their emotional and historical meaning. He is interested in exploring how these objects can function as ‘symbols of experience’ as they are directly linked to our memories and products of our human experience. Simultaneously, he seeks to establish a connection between the concept of remembrance and the subconscious.
Fortune Hunter was born in Dortmund, Germany and raised in La Paz, Bolivia. He moved to Montreal, Canada, where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from Concordia University. In the following years he developed painting techniques, which were self-taught. His paintings have been exhibited internationally, including France, Germany, Spain, Lebanon, South Korea and Taiwan, and have been showcased in different contemporary art publications such as ‘Create! Magazine’ and ‘Friend of the Artist’.
